My latest artwork for Tigerpaw's new single; "Karburator Asmara"
Coinciding with their birthday, one of the rock bands from Yogyakarta; Tigerpaw released their latest single. This single marked the start of their full album release after the last one that was released 4 years ago. I was entrusted with collaborating to make the cover artwork for this single entitled "Karburator Asmara". Initially, Tigerpaw's management at the direct request of their vocalist contacted me to discuss this project. Since I love old rock music and all its attributes such as motorbikes, leather jackets, and psychedelic vibes, it was quite easy for me to in-tune with the song when it was first previewed.
The process of making the cover was quite fast, from the sketch to the final artwork it took about 2 weeks. Initially, I made 3 alternative sketches, all of which used an old motorbike and leather jacket as the key visual. But apparently, there was a change in the band's brand image that wanted to give a more 'pop' touch to target a younger audience, so that required me to change the motorbike to a scooter, which is more relevant to today's young generation, but still have the old-school vibes.
The creative process was also quite fun, considering that Tigerpaw's vocalist who is also an architect understands quite a lot about visual aesthetics, so our discussion ran smoothly. Finally, this artwork was completed and also will be released as the main merchandise for their next album.
The song "Karburator Asmara" itself now can be heard on your favorite digital music streaming platforms.
